Four more rows done on Anthony's scarf...it has got to end sometime! :D

Sunday, October 20, 2002

Until today, I never realized how relaxing my crafting was to me --- I was a bit stressed this week, and after a good knitting session yesterday afternoon and more kintting today at the laundromat, I definitely feel a lot better.

I finished that great Anny Blatt scarf yesterday afternoon. All told, it took about 6 hours to do. This afternoon, as an exercise in self-discipline, I knit a few more rows on Anthony's scarf. Every time I think I need only 6 more inches, I hold it up and decide it needs more than that. Ah well, I will finish it eventually. :)

I was a baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaad girl last night... I went over to Hill Country Weavers to put back a scarf kit I had set aside, and ended up buying it anyway. (Hey - birthday present to me!) It is an Anny Blatt scarf kit, using a strand of mohair and a strand of ribbon held together. I worked on it for a couple hours last night and already have it about 1/3 to 1/2 way completed. I'll get pics up as soon as I get my digital camera software reinstalled.

Woosh - am I tired. This weekend has been one of amazing busy-ness for me, with practice Friday and Saturday and a concert Saturday night, not to mention Saturday also being my birthday. I think I used up all my extra energy and I'll be a husk forever. Heh.

Birthdays are fun though, no? I mean, no matter how old you are, at least ONE of your friends or relatives will go out of their way to make certain you either have fun or are embarrassed within an inch of your life. Thankfully I got the fun one, this year -- next year they'll probably find something for the latter. :D

I'm in a much better mood now, but I haven't gotten much knitting done tonight. I did get a few rows on Anthony's scarf done before practice, and I did four more rows on my Harry Potter scarf since practice.

Now, I think it is time for sleeeeppppppppppp...

[Insert gigantic scream of frustration here] Sigh. Sometimes I wonder why I kill myself for an audition, when the directors always seem predisposed not to give me the part. I love singing and I love my chorus, but it's a major bummer when the solo parts are announced (less than 6 days before the concert no less!), you didn't get one, but everyone comes up to you and says you should've gotten one.

Of course, the director himself is the target of part of my angst -- not because he didn't pick me, but because he waited until right before the concert to tell us who got the parts. Ok, rant over. I think. I may rant a little more later, probably privately. Rant rant. Heh.

HCW is so great! On the first Thursday of every month, Suzanne (the owner) has a mystery sale and a knit-in. Last night I picked up two skeins of Dalegarn in UT burnt orange on sale, to make a hat.

I also did get several more rows done on Anthony's scarf - knitting stockingette in the round can really become tedious. I think I need about 6 to 8 inches more at a minimum, maybe more. Thankfully st-stitch is mindless enough that I can do it while watching a movie or TV. At least the scarf is looking very nice, and I think my nephew will like it when he gets it. :)

My birthday boa is complete!!! I cast off the last stitches last night during choir practice and it is soooooooo yummy! :)

The boa is made of Fox eyelash yarn in crimson (or did I say that already?) and it is about 5 1/2 feet long. I was going to make it a bit longer but I really do have other projects to finish before Christmas. Maybe tonight I can post a pic of my new boa!
