Back to the frog pond

Hm. Mystery project part 1 was a bit too big. I completely frogged it and started over last night - checking my gauge as recommended (after moving down a hook size) and I was spot on - and I still had to adjust the pattern as the final result would have been too large once again. The woman who wrote this pattern must crochet very tightly! I went with adjusting the pattern rather than redoing it once more, because I really don't like to frog things in the first place.

Going to faire again this weekend - y'all have fun!

Crochet on my mind

I was invited to take part in a secret gift for a friend, and so I dug out my crochet patterns last night to make a *beeeep*. It came out well, if I do say so myself, and I love the color in this pattern. (Note: sorry for the censorship - not entirely certain whether she reads this blog. :)

I have one more to make, which should hopefully only take a couple hours - after all, I crochet much MUCH faster than I knit. Then, back to PF and the Eros scarves. ...and maybe that sock...

Things that make you go hmmmm

Well, I decided that I needed to pull out that pair of socks I started ages ago and get back to work on it. I am using a basic st st pattern (originally it called for a 9 inch calf but I am making it only about 2 inches long) and got to the heel last night on the first sock. Of course, it's been so long since I started this thing that I forgot which size I was making and assumed I was doing the larger size -- no, I didn't count my stitches - and now that means I have 36 stitches going into the heel and only 28 stitches waiting for me to work the instep. Since I've already gotten several rows into the heel, I really don't want to rip out and start over... Maybe I can just increase a time or two on the instep sections and it will look ok. Any suggestions?

Brass monkey

That funky monkey...

Ok, so it is GLASS, not brass, and a head rather than a monkey. I like it. :D Perched ever so suavely on top you can see one of my one-skein wonder projects, which happened to be a personal experiment in hat-making. I'll post the pattern as soon as I locate the paper I wrote it down on.

Here's Pink Flutterby - just over 9 inches of stockingette stitch on my way to 15. I did get some more work done on it today, while waiting in the dentist's office. Root canal - oh, joy. Ah, well, it got me the afternoon off work. :)

Getting there

Yesterday's knit session was fun -- as usual we talked quite a bit about this that and everything, and I managed to get another half inch of Pink Flutterby done. I started the fourth skein of Cinema, which means I am nearly halfway through! I wanted to show a pic of my *9* inches of stockingette, but I forgot to charge the batteries for my camera. Maybe tomorrow. I also started the 3rd Eros scarf for Joanne - and if I can focus my attention on it, I may even have that one done this weekend, with only one to go.

Thank you VERY much to Peggy, who has the best stash in the world and can always seem to find me what I need. Thanks also to Sue who brings German chocolates and yummy yarn when she comes back from visiting her daughter. :D

So, I've gotten a bit of knitting done, I've got pressies, and I don't have to work tomorrow. Yay!

Fluttering along...

Cool beans, I have a knitting buddy! Sarah has agreed that Flutterby is a great name for this top. I managed to get a couple more rows done last night before spending way too much time on my PS2. Heh. Anyone else out there working on FCEK #5 from this summer's edition?

...now to dream up jewelry designs for a friend's birthday...

Fluttering along...

Looks like a Crafty Snargle is doing Pattern #5 as well. It is a great looking top, but the 15 inches of stockingette stitch are simply killing me. I've gotten to about 8 1/2 inches so far, working in the round - I'd put Pink Flutterby away for a couple weeks while working on some other projects. I really want to get this top completed soon, though -- the weather calls for something super summery like this! :D

FO again

Finished the 2nd Eros scarf Saturday afternoon at about 6 -- starting on the third.

I should get plenty of knitting time in tonight, as we have a voters assembly that is sure to last a while. Oh well, I need to knit anyway. :)

Yup, did some more beadwork today. I really need to get these Eros scarves that I am working on finished, but I wanted to make some more beaded stitch markers. Hopefully I can start selling them soon, once I have a good stock built up.

In the meantime, I ran across some cute yellow beads in my stash that I didn't feel went well on the stitch markers. As a matter of fact, they were just screaming out for me to make a jewelry set.

What do you think?

Happy graduation!

Two of my very good friends are graduating college today!! Congratulations, J and R - and best wishes on your plans for the future. *hugs*

Real women, eh?

Well, Melissa posted this humdinger today... Of course, she just says that we KNIT socks, doesn't say anything about finishing them. :) Here're mine:

Monday already?

Here I am, back in town and not-so-ready for work on Monday morning. I went to Faire this weekend with some friends and we had a marvelous time! Although I didn't get to catch as many shows as I wanted, I really enjoyed listening to ParaCelt and to the Corsairs -- I even got to prove my own worth as a vocalist to a shopkeeper bound and determined to sell me a flute. (Well, it is a little difficult to play a mouth instrument and sing at the same time... :)

Didn't get much knitting done this weekend, but I did get a few more inches done on the 2nd Eros scarf --- and in the process got an order for at least one more from a friend. Everyone loves this yarn!

How long?

Last night I got to measure a meeting by the amount of scarf I knitted. 2 and a half feet of sheer Eros goodness - not to mention a lot of budget arguments. The chairperson noted that he never wanted to see me actually finish one (start to finish) at one of our meetings --- for that matter, neither do I. :)

Off to Scarborough Faire this weekend!!!!!

Yes, it's true -- after a week of piddling around, I did finally finish that Eros scarf. No sooner did I finish it than a co-worker asked to buy it from me (and requested a 2nd for her sister). On to #2!

Fabu stash additions...

This weekend I got to add some wonderful books to my stash -- thank you VERY much to my dear friend (you know who you are! :) who brought them for me. I spent a couple hours engrossed in Slip Stitch alone...

HCW also had a very nice garden party this weekend, and I got to see several people I hadn't seen in a few weeks or so - and whoever did the cake is an absolute genius at decorating with frosting! I wish I had a picture to show you. It was hexagonal, with each side being something different. A couple sides had gardens of flowers, one had "buttons" and another had a frosting sweater being knitted, with tiny toothpick knitting needles. :) Of course, you can't go to a yarn shop without browsing through the yarn, so I picked up a few skeins of Kelly in a pastel variegated colorway to make a Spring-y shawl.

...and now, it's Monday - so off to work I go!

There's a new Knitter in Texas... OK, maybe not a new knitter, but at least a new knit blog. :)

Happy Birthday, Tina!!!

Yes, today is my sister's birthday. I'd spill on how old she is, but since she's only a couple years ahead of me, I'll keep the peace. At least until after my 30th birthday (which is NOT this year!)... :D
