Welcome home...

Oy. And you can quote me on that. Nothing like finally shaking off jet lag only to realize that you have a killer of a sinus problem. Welcome back to Austin - have some pollen. Sigh.

Well, I did manage to get to my first ACC rehearsal in a month last night, although I didn't stay for the whole thing (singers tend to shy away from others who are snuffling the whole time). I thought I remembered more of Judas Maccabaeus than that!

I did actually get some knitting in on my trip and last night. The Spring Flingers will be happy to hear that I finished one Eros scarf (sorry, no pics - it was snapped up by one of my fellow travelers) and most of a second. The third will also be for one of my compatriots on the trip and I'll get pics of those two as soon as I can. Of course, Eros scarves don't change much from pic to pic... :D Last night I also started a baby blanket for a friend who just had a baby. I've only got about 5 1/2 ounces of this cotton, though, so I don't know how large the blanket will be. If I'm lucky maybe I'll find another color of this or a similar one at my LYS this week to add to the total (using 3 colors of a cotton/wool/lycra blend called Breeze - discontinued, I think). We shall see.

Well, off to work for me - with my Sudafed in tow. Toodles!

So good to be home...

Finally I feel halfway human again. Long-distance travel certainly takes it out of you, no? At any rate, I've slept for a good portion of yesterday, and now I just have to get up and out and get things accomplished. :)

I am sad that I was not able to find any sock yarn while in Europe, but the yarn I did find in Italy is fabulous - I'll get pics up of the yarn and some sights as soon as I finish unpacking (and washing all that laundry, oy!).

She's where?

Europe is amazing. Sadly, can't seem to find a yarn shop anywhere (although several other people on the trip have mentioned sighting one...argh). It's okay, though, because we haven't had enough time outside of performances to do a lot of shopping. The one shop I wanted to go back to in Salzburg was long closed by the time we got back from our concert there.

Update: found a shop here in Vienna, just down the street from the hotel. Of course, it being Sunday, the place is closed. They seem to carry mainly Lana Grossa and Brother knitting machines... :)

Leaving....on a jet plane :)

Well, I am off for a whirlwind tour of Europe. I've packed my bags, and I'm sitting at the airport waiting for the plane to come in. I'm going to try to blog while I am away - but to keep this one to mainly my crafty interests, I've created a new blog just for my travel documentary.

I promise to get some pics up soon (provided I can find other internet access on the road)! ...oh, and I never did finish Kitchenering that second toe. Ah, well. Socks for next winter, I guess. :D

Oy, I've been a real slacker this week. No knitting done, and only a bit of crochet on the Fribble scarf. At least I'm on the edging for that, and tonight I simply MUST get around to Kitchenering the toe on that second Beatrice sock.

Oh, the post title? That actually came from a record my Mom used to have (and if anyone can find me a copy in good condition, I'd be most obliged!). One of the songs that came to me this morning from that record was "Oh, How I Hate to Get Up in the Morning". Apropos, no?

In other news, bought 4 skeins of Debbie Bliss Baby Cashmerino on sale last night. This will theoretically be for a log cabin baby blanket I want to make for one of the soon-to-be-borns that I know of. I wanted to get myself some Koigu for a lacy shell I saw (only 6 skeins!) but since it wasn't on sale (and I have two sweaters already in progress), the Koigu will have to wait.

7 more days, and I have to figure out what to pack!

Time to Shop

Yes, darlings, it is First Thursday again! Time to get our groove on down at our favorite yarn store - Hill Country Weavers. Unfortunately, I will not be able to hang out long as I have rehearsal tonight. Again. Ah, well, the sacrifices we make for our art. *carrots and peas*

Less crafting time tonight, but I do hope to get mostly finished with Fribble2 - I am just about on the last row. If I get home in time, I'll even Kitchener that last toe for the Beatrice socks that have been languishing in my bag. Gotta get more done!
