Whetting your appetite

This weekend it is my plan to go through my pics from the cruise and actually put some sort of album together. Some of the pics will get posted to my photoblog, for those who are interested. (Of course, that is presuming I get off my tail and get it done -- I still haven't finished the album from the Germany trip last year).

Just as a little preview, here's a look at our last evening at sea:

This picture was taken with my Olympus E-Volt E300 in the Gulf of Mexico on September 27th, 2005 at approximately 6 pm CDT.

Home again, home again, jiggety jog

Woohoo, back in Austin again! Of course, having my 7-day cruise turn into 11 days wasn't a bad way to be stranded... Even though Hurricane Rita gave Galveston much less hassle than originally feared, it still delayed our return to port by several days.

Coming soon - pics of the trip! (...and I even got a teensy bit of knitting done. Ok, I finished the last ten rows on one baby sock - but that counts!)

Sigh.

Ever found that the process of packing for a trip is more daunting that packing up your entire household to move? Crud. That's probably why I am so good at procrastinating about it.

Let's see...
Shawls done: check.
Stuff packed: not quite.
Lists made for stuff to be packed: on revision umpteen and still not right.
State of mind: I need a drink.

Well, at least it'll be a grand vacation. :D

Sadly, no yarn

Sammi lucked out on a draw from Knitpicks, apparently, and got some free yarn. I checked my mail today, and *sniff* no yarn. Ah well, you can't win 'em all.

By the way, I'm not dead yet. I'm getting better. I think I'll go for a walk. I feel happy!

Okay, all Pythonisms aside, I've just been really busy getting shawls done for the cruise and getting work work done so I can leave on vacation. (Sheesh, you'd think they were paying me or something. Oh, wait...)

Shawl number 3 is in fact done, save weaving in the ends. I've also just about finished the HK doll for Jordan, and I have 2/3rds of one sockie done for Ann. I might be able to finish those two projects before I leave, so that I can take just a couple sock sets with me on the ship to do if I actually have free time. And I'm not loopy on rum punch. :D

Catching up

It is amazing how far you get behind in things when you take a day off to go out of town. (Okay, so I was out for two and a half days...)

At any rate, I did get a lot of knitting done this weekend -- finished the shawl for Emmy, all but one arm (and of course the making up) of the doll for Jordan, and most of one sock for the baby set for Ann. I'm setting up a photo shoot for the shawl this afternoon and will try to get a pic or two up. I've also got to get more photos done for my Austin blog, so expect updates there as well!

Tomorrow, I'll get back to work on the tablecloth I think during the day some if I get some time at home (can't take it out in public - I'm afraid something would get on it); if not, I'll plan on that for Tuesday night. Definitely have to get that and the shawl for Meesha taken care of. (Wow, that's an incomplete sentence ended with a preposition. Ouch.)

TWO weeks until I'm cruising the Caribbean!

Cool things to note about Austin

Ever wonder about the Austin street names? I have, upon occasion, remarked on the oddities of pronunciation (not all of which are addressed in this article, sadly).

By the way, it is /men-SHAWK-uh/ but /MAN-SHAK/. Go fig.
