Looking for inspiration

Now that the socks are almost done (how many times have I said that recently?) I want to start a new project I've been thinking about for a while. I need to make a scarf for a rather conservative-dressing gentleman of my acquaintance. I've thought about several cable patterns, but I can't settle on one - and I really don't want to do a 1x1 rib or seed stitch. The yarn I am using is Karabella Aurora 8, a very small amount of dark grey at each end and black for the body of it. So, any ideas?

(Hey - this is the perfect time for you lurkers out there to stop in and make a comment. :)

Happy birfday, bratchild...

Just making a shout out to wish my little sis a very happy birthday. :D Okay, so at 28 perhaps I should stop calling you bratchild...naaaaaaaaaah. *grin*

Random Encounters redux

Well, this time I didn't encounter anyone rich and famous, but I did have an "encounter" of a sort at work. Turns out that a co-worker and I apparently had the need to wear Longhorn t-shirts, jeans, and pigtail braids on the same day. Totally random.

You think I'd be used to it by now...

You know, after so many years of working tech support, you think I'd be used to my DSL line only working again after calling tech support -- even though I did all the same troubleshooting steps that they are forcing me to do again on my own before I even called them. Three times, even. Sigh.

The good news is, at least I have my DSL up and running again. Argh.

OKC: Getting ever closer to having Becky's socks finished. I lack about 4 inches on the second sock. Woohoo!

A question of faith

So, after years of avoiding it, I finally watched Dogma. Apparently I had it confused all this time with another film, of a similar but darker nature. I still don't know what that other one might have been, but I can say that this one wasn't as bad as I feared. Amazingly enough, under all that bs that Hollywood attaches to things, a small part of a good thing got through. Not that I think this movie should redefine anyone's belief system.

At any rate, it has given me something to ponder this evening. And right now, I feel thankful to God for all the blessings He's granted to me. Odd that a silly movie can make you think this way, eh?

I'm still having issues with Blogger's ability to upload picture files, but I thought I'd share links to a pic or two of some fabulous imagery I took at Central Christian Church here in Austin when we had our Cathedral Christmas concert in December.

Wow

I tell you, this has got to be the best blonde joke ever.

Heck, it makes a pretty darn good Aggie joke, too.

Show me the sky

I don't lemming often, but check out this sky... Congratulations once more to my Texas Longhorns - National Champions 2005!

Oh, and for those seeking more pics, I've updated my photo blog, too.

EDITED to grumble: Argh, anyone else having problems with Blogger uploading photos? I could get off my lazy duff and do it manually, but I want the steenkin' software to work right.

Woolies for Christmas and other fun things

Well, the new year has gotten off to an interesting start. Right now I am pretty busy with work and chorus stuff, but I managed to get a hat finished from Karabella Aurora 8 (LOVE that stuff!) on Saturday afternoon. Pics to come

Random fun bit: Woolies for Christmas -- Reverend Fun is a (slightly irreverent) comic strip that generally makes you giggle, think and reach for your Bible to cross-reference a passage all at the same time. Even if you aren't a Christian, it's certainly worth a peek. :D

And in other news, a friend is not doing so well - K is in the hospital with pneumonia, under sedation on a breathing machine in ICU, and apparently suffered a stroke in the midst of this. Please keep her in your thoughts and prayers, as well as a couple of really close friends of hers who are there in the hospital with her every day.

Starting the New Year

Legend has it that whatever you do on the first day of the year will be what you do the most of all year long. So, this January 1, I kissed a hot younger man, I partied with friends, I slept late and even got some knitting in. Let's hope this bodes well for the year to come! :D
