It's a Good Weekend, Tater

Let's see:
- Finished the net stitch shawl. I still have to get FO pics, but it is done and all the ends are woven in.
- Got my PS3 (and I haven't wasted that much time playing with it, but it is coooooooool :)
- Contador won the Tour de France, and Team Discovery won the team points (woo!!)
- picked up a nice rolling craft tote for $5. I love sales.

Now I've gotta get ready for my class this afternoon, plus work on a crocheted wire bracelet for a specialty class I plan to teach this fall. Should be a nice quiet afternoon.

Your WTF moment of zen...

...or something.

I use StumbleUpon occasionally - when I am bored or waiting, say, for my PS3 to finish its software update. Today I found the LOLCats Revised Standard Version...

Heh

The new Knits preview is up...and one knitter referred to it as the "giant purple vagina issue". Snort - and giggle, it kinda does remind one of it, in a very Georgia O'Keefe manner.

Plans for the Day

I would have liked to laze about all day. However, I had a class to teach this afternoon, so I forced myself out of the house pretty early just to get some exercise. Today's jaunt was to the mall, for some simple walking (and window-shopping, 'cause exercise has to be interesting). Amazingly enough, I only spent about $15 (the spending is partly why I don't mall-walk more often) on a CD - for Flogging Molly. When I was browsing in Hot Topic (still trying to find Goth Kitty merch, which is not easy to locate) they had this CD playing and I found I liked the rock-Celt thing this band has going on. A bit unusual, but then, so is the rest of my music collection.

The class went well - I taught a three-hour class on crocheting flowers for embellishment. One of the students also started work on the flower scarf from The Happy Hooker - the trick to getting started on those is to remember that you start the first round crocheting into the ring, not into the individual chains.

Now, I am home, and book 7 was in my mailbox. Yup, I'm signing off for the next few hours - I can't wait to find out what happens. :D

Nothing to see here

For the last week I've been on a little mini-vacation -- my eldest nephew came down to Texas to visit his dad's parents and then came and spent a week at Mom's. We went to the Alamo and Riverwalk, to the Institute of Texan Cultures and the Natural Bridge Safari park, and finally to Fiesta Texas. He had a lot of fun - but man, is it hard work to entertain a 15-year-old. :D

Of course, no knitting or crocheting got done at all - I took my Wii along to keep him entertained when we weren't out doing stuff, and ended up playing along with him quite a bit. I really need to get back to finishing my shawl. Since I'll be teaching a crocheted flowers class on Saturday (at HCW, if you're in the neighborhood and interested!) I'll probably try to get more of the edging done then. One of these days it will get done. :)

Now to see about uploading the 3 or so weeks worth of photos I haven't gotten onto my Flickr acct yet.

Happy Independence Day

As we take the time to remember what freedom really means, let's not forget all the people who have sacrificed their lives to make sure we are still free. To my US friends, Happy 4th of July! :)
