What we've learned today:

In the absence of a crochet hook, or indeed any similar tool, you can use the earpiece of a pair of sunglasses to pick up dropped stitches. I about had a cow when I dropped the stitch, and then couldn't find anything to let me pick it up again before putting my knitting away.
