In which she learns to spellcheck

Sometimes those fingers move faster than the eyes. One of these days I'll learn to double-check before hitting the post button on a site, especially when I don't always get the option to edit. At any rate, I finally got around to running a Wordle cloud on my Flickr photostream, and here it is:

What are you waiting for - get over there and have fun!

My weekend

Yes, it was a busy weekend... I built furniture, got some olympics crocheting done, got more unpacking done, and even got to spend more time with some friends who are new parents. Would likely have done more of that last if I could have but circumstances allowed, but it was not to be. However, they probably would have gotten sick of me anyway. :D

The picture is of my new etagere for the bathroom. Technically I'm not sure it is strictly an etagere, as that just means shelves in French, I think -- this will actually have a cabinet on top as you might be able to tell from the hinges and should stand nicely behind the toilet. I'm hoping the legs are wide enough that I don't have to bolt it to the wall as the instructions state -- a point that was NOT made on the outside of the box. Between that and the "easy assembly" label (which LIED!) they did include, this has been an interesting project so far, but it is getting done. It at least is fitting together better than a media shelf I built, and the back of it (save for that very visible middle seam) is much better quality than the back of the bookshelves my nephew and I put together a couple weeks ago.

Later this week I should get my new sofa delivered, with a coffee table as well - so yay for new furniture that I didn't have to assemble! After that, no new furniture for a good long while - although there are still more pieces I want to add/replace, my budget is done for now. My next focus will be on getting my old desk and coffee table up on Craigslist finally, plus getting some stash up for sale on Ravelry like I'd planned before the move. It will get done, it will, it will.

As far as the crafting goes, the Ravelympics project is almost done -- a round and a half left to go on my bathroom rug, and the (censored) for (censored) is more than half done - I am on the colorwork, which is slow going and not easy to take as a traveling project. Once the rug is finished, which should be tonight I think, that will be my only in progress item -- everything else is pretty much in UFO status.

...and I just looked at the clock and need to dash to work - so I'm off!

Almost time...

It's 6:30 AM and the baby is coming... Not mine, sillies. I'm pretty sure everyone would know if I was expecting. :D

My best friend from college is having her baby today, and I am very excited. She's doing well and the baby should be here soon. I only wish I didn't have to leave to go to work, but by the time I get back I get to welcome a new person into the world. Yay!

After this, my teeth better be perfect

Sigh. I put off doing the dentist thing for too long, knowing I had a chip in a filling that needed repair for quite a while. Turns out that chip was actually between two teeth and the filling underneath was done badly (uh yeah, bad experiences with prior dentists might be WHY I have been procrastinating about getting this taken care of - and the sad thing was my last dentist was better than the Dr. Scrivello horror job I had as a kid), and the dentist wanted to replace the whole shebang with a full veneer on both today instead of a couple more fillings which may or may not have lasted a year or three before needing to be replaced again based on their placement.

So an appointment that should have only lasted for an hour and a half this morning took an hour longer than that, and the temporary crown I have over the teeth while I wait for the permanent veneer is rough and just a smidge too long. I swear it didn't seem too long while I was in the dentist's chair, but now I feel like Bugs Bunny. I couldn't eat lunch properly because I'm not supposed to bite into things with my front teeth (so I don't break the temps) and I feel like I am not shutting my jaw correctly at any other time. Add to that the amount that I ended up shelling out for this (which, by the way, still makes me grateful for insurance even though it doesn't cover as much as it should) and all I can say is at the end of this those veneers better make me feel like a frickin' supermodel.

Bah. Whatever happened to the regenerating dentistry that we were supposed to have invented by the year 2000? Heinlein lied.

Leia made it to Explore!

Leia Hat

Heh - I hadn't checked my Scout statistics in a while, and apparently this photo made it into Flickr's explore feature for the day it was taken (and dropped out again, but it was in there!). Just as well - I haven't finished many projects in the last four months - a couple baby gifts here and there and this hat. Grandma's shawl was finished in there somewhere as well, and I'm sure I blogged about it...but I haven't been completing a whole slew of things.

Yesterday I finished unpacking and sorting all the boxes of craft books and magazines I moved. I know I still have a couple boxes of craft books over in my storage unit, but the majority are now sorted. I'll be pulling out the extras and ones that I don't plan on keeping and setting them aside for the craft material destashing effort. That's the only major de-clutter/de-stash I didn't get done before I moved, mainly because I can resell a lot of that stuff and it didn't make sense to just drop it off in boxes to Goodwill. Well, the old magazines and such I will probably donate to the library after I let the gang I knit with regularly go through them, since we tend to circulate stuff like that around... (Yes, KSH ladies, be prepared. I don't THINK I still have any more Dazzle hanging around from the horrible vest of doom.)
