I forgot to get back online last night with my final update. Jasmine's hat is coming along much faster than I thought it would - I only have a couple more inches to knit before I can start decreasing. Woohoo!

Here's a goodie for all my friends -- I finally got more pics loaded into my photo albums!!! You can hit the link there to the left in the sidebar. There are 3 new photos in the Crochet section, and 5 new ones in the Knitting section. All new photos are at the bottom of the page. Let me know what you think! :)

Ahhh...nothing like 15 minutes of peace and quiet and listening to the rain to get some quick knitting done... I got 3 more rows done on Jasmine's hat while on break (being an hourly employee does have benefits sometimes). The body of the hat is starting to take shape!

Things I need to remember to take to Mom's on Wednesday night:

  1. projects for Mom, Katie, Tina, Jasmine and Shawn

  2. fleece blanket materials

  3. extra yarn for slippers for Virgil, Jesse and Ernie

  4. Shiner, sausages and syrup

I may get all my Christmas gifts done yet! :D

Last night I re-started Jasmine's hat for the fifth time, this time with a different yarn altogether. If my niece ever reads this: I'm sorry - but the muppet fur is a pain. :)

I did get several rows on the new hat done at choral practice, and I hope to have it and Shawn's scarf finished this week. Since I have Thursday and Friday off, I should also be able to get the fleece blankies for Sonja and Johnathan done, and hopefully get started on the gifts for Tina, Jesse, Katie and Ernie.

Mom has requested a new pair of slippers for her boyfriend - seems like he has worn out the pair I gave him last year. That's fine - now I know what to give him for Chirstmas! (...and this time, I'll make them from sturdier yarn...)

Well, I got a bit of knitting done this weekend -- hung out at HCW for a few hours on Saturday and re-started Jasmine's hat and started Shawn's scarf. The scarf is looking a sight better than the hat -- which I think will end up too small. :( I really need to find my gauge and see what it is knitting up to.

Oh, I forgot to mention! I got the Christmas exchange gift finished and in the mail - can't wait to get mine in return! :)

I've started Jasmine's hat, using the purple Polarspun and size 8 needles, for Bev's Easy 2 Needle Hat pattern. Looking at it, the hat may be coming out a little too big -- if it does, I'll just give it to charity and start a new one with fewer stitches cast on.

Well, the crochet-list exchange gift is done - I just have to weave in the ends and pack it and ship it. ...and yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaawn, it is definitely time to go to bed!

Oh, now THIS is a poem all knitters and crocheters in the Christmas season need to read:

Death by Knitting
or Ode to Stephanie Pearl (not Purl)

by Janine Tinklenberg
(From the Multiple WIP Reality Nation!)

As she surveyed her Christmas list
(For gifting, not for getting),
Her family started a knitting pool
So they could run the betting.

Would she finish her knitting this year?
The tension ran quite high.
All walked softly as they passed,
So they wouldn't get poked in the eye

By her needles going clickety-clack.
Wool fluff filled the air,
Whirled in clouds about her head
And settled everywhere.

She started looking hollow-eyed,
She started getting thin,
Still, she kept a-knitting on
With a weird and manic grin.

Socks for mamma, a hat for Ted,
Gloves for Auntie Sue.
All far more than twenty
Knitting thirty years could do.

She finished her knitting on Christmas Eve,
Long after all were in bed.
But when they all got up that morn
They found her lying dead!

Yarn and needles were clutched in her hands.
The mortician left them there,
And so she was buried, wrapped in the shawl
She meant to give to Claire.

"Why did she do 'IT'?!" her family wailed,
"She knit her life away!"
"Oh, is that knitting?" A friend remarked,
"I thought it was crochet!"

2002 by Janine Tinklenberg.

This poem may be used in knitting guild newsletters freely as long as my name appears and I get a copy of the newsletter.

This looks like it might be a good pattern for the cap I want to knit Jasmine. I like pattern B, and I've got some cute ladybug buttons for the top.

Time's a wastin'! Back in July I made this grandiose list of all the projects I could complete for Christmas presents. What was I thinking! Ah well, I'll get a good chunk of them done, and then I'll have to do some shopping... :D

Happily, the Harry Potter scarf was 100% done before I went to the movie. I even got time to toss in a HP hat to go with it! I really need to charge the batteries for my digital camera so I can get the pics up...

Woohooooooooooooooo! I managed to get my archives back! *happy joy dance*

Sometimes a sick day at home is just what you need to finish projects. I managed to finish knitting the HP scarf yesterday, and I've gotten about 1/3 of the seam sewn up. I'll finish that tonight. I also got another letter of the table runner completed, so I am now over halfway through!

Huzzah - only half a stripe left and I will have the knitting done on my Harry Potter scarf. Now all I'll need to do is sew up the back seam.

Argh, argh and triple argh! My archives for July, August and September appeared to have dropped off the face of the ether! *sigh* Well, back to the drawing board.

Oh! I forgot to note that I actually got a crafting journal. Well, technically it is a knitting journal, but I am going to use it for all my crochet projects, too. To date I have a bit of a poor record with journals (even online ones *grin*) so we'll see if I can keep up with it.

5 more days til I get to see the new Harry Potter movie, and my scarf is nearing completion! I need just four more stripes, according to the pattern, although the scarf is long enough now I may just stop at two more.

That hat pattern is great - and I finished two baby hats in a couple hours with some dk weight yarn and one size smaller hook. Now to work on some more Christmas gifts!

I have found a great new quickie project! Two strands of coordinating yarn and an hour or so later, I have a great floppy brim hat - together with a scarf it'll make a great gift for my little sister.

Heh - vacation time sure takes you away from the computer, whether you want it to or not. Ah, I suppose it was a good thing, but now I am waaaaaaaaaay behind in my updates. LOL!

Weeeeeeell, I finally finished that scarf for my nephew last night. It could probably stand to be longer, but truthfully I was tired of working on it. Or did I say that before? It looks pretty good, even if the sewed together ends aren't as perfect as I might like.

This past week I also started a shrug for my mother - it was supposed to be her birthday present but I simply didn't have enough time to finish it, so she'll get it for Christmas instead. I gave her my alpaca/mohair/ribbon scarf for a gift instead - I can always get the materials to make another, and she doesn't knit.

Ok, back to the grind!
