Knitting haitus?

Waaah - my shoulder hurts. Ok, maybe I am being a big baby, but holy cow are my muscles tight lately.

So...I appeal to my knit-sisters (and brothers) out there in cyberspace. Do you think I need to lay off the knitting for a bit? The tightness is in my left shoulder (and now neck) and is so bad at times that breathing deeply twinges. Sitting at the computer for long periods of time definitely isn't going to happen, but after a session of knitting the other night, my shoulder did seem to loosen up. Working with the knitting didn't hurt, either. Everything hurt like the devil the next morning, though, and a massage yesterday afternoon was only partially helpful. Any PTs out there with an opinion for me?
