Secret Pal Questionnaire - Redux
It's that time again, so here's my answers for the questionnaire... :D
1. Are you a yarn snob (do you prefer higher quality and/or natural fibers)? Do you avoid Red Heart and Lion Brand? Or is it all the same to you? Yes and no. If it's soft, I generally like it.
2. Do you spin? Crochet? I haven't gotten into spinning yet, but I've been crocheting since I was 7. :D
3. Do you have any allergies? (smoke, pets, fibers, perfume, etc.) Technically, no. I generally react badly to smoke and mohair, though.
4. How long have you been knitting? About 3 years or so, now (check the earliest date on this blog. :)
5. Do you have an Amazon or other online wish list? Yup, check the link in the top part of the bar to the right.
6. What's your favorite scent? (for candles, bath products etc.) Plumeria, or anything floral.
7. Do you have a sweet tooth? Yes, mainly for chocolate. :D
8. What other crafts or Do-It-Yourself things do you like to do? I weave, make jewelry, do beadwork, and a few other things. Right now I have too many crafty hobbies to count, although they don't always make it into regular rotation.
9. What kind of music do you like? Can your computer/stereo play MP3s? (if your buddy wants to make you a CD) I love all kinds of music, except for rap and derogatory rock. My personal collection ranges from Fats Waller to Mozart to the Monkees to No Doubt to... well, you get the picture. MP3s will work just fine.
10. What's your favorite color? Or--do you have a color family/season/palette you prefer? Any colors you just can't stand? My favorite color is fuchsia (pinks and reds in general). I cannot stand Microsoft Teal.
11. What is your family situation? Do you have any pets? Single, no kids, no pets (unless you count the dust bunnies).
12. What are your life dreams? (really stretching it here, I know)
- To make a name for myself with my singing
- To be able to make a living with my knitting/crocheting/beadwork
- I wanna be an astronaut when I grow up.
13. What is/are your favorite yarn/s to knit with? Tough call. Right now I'd have to say Koigu KPPPM or Kersti and Debbie Bliss Cashmerino. Baby Alpaca is nice, too... Ooooh, soft AND pretty colors. :D
14. What fibers do you absolutely *not* like? Mohair no likey me. Seriously, I hack up hairballs when I work with it. Just ask my knitting buds.
15. What is/are your current knitting obsession/s? In the process of making myself a shawl and a shrug for a trip later in the year, then back to socks -- I have a goal of 14 pair of socks before next summer, and I've only finished 2 pair so far.
16. What is/are your favorite item/s to knit? It varies. I love instant gratification projects.
17. What are you knitting right now? Besides the shawl and shrug, also working on a tank from Bamboo, some prayer shawls and at least one pair of socks. I have about 20 other projects in the UFO pile - but I don't count those.
18. What do you think about ponchos? Eh...I've made a couple capelets for myself but I'm not feeling the out-and-out poncho love. This is not to say that next winter I still won't be kicking myself for not having made a warm one.
19. Do you prefer straight or circular needles? Definitely the circs.
20. Bamboo, aluminum, plastic? Depends on the yarn and project. I love Addis, but I also like my Denise (plastic) and Boye (aluminum). I don't have many wooden circs, although I need to get some before I go overseas next year - easier to travel with.
21. Are you a sock knitter? Heh, yeah.
22. How did you learn to knit? Taught myself from a couple books.
23. How old is your oldest UFO? Well over a decade.
24. What is your favorite animated character or a favorite animal/bird? I love cats, the Animaniacs and Hello Kitty.
25. What is your favorite holiday? All of them. Ok, mainly the Christian ones. Hey, I'm a church geek, what can I say.
26. Is there anything that you collect? Um...yarn? :D I have a beanie baby collection that I haven't added to in at least 3 years, a massive collection of DVDs and CDs (there are reasons why my Amazon wishlist is so long) and cool beads for my beadwork. And yarn. Definitely yarn.
27. What knitting magazine subscriptions do you have? None, although I keep meaning to sub to Interweave Knits.
28. Any books out there you are dying to get your hands on? The Opinionated Knitter, A Handbook of Weaves (Oelsner), Knitting Scottish Kilt Hose
