Mozart's Requiem
Mozart is my favorite composer of classical music. Tonight, we just finished our first Austin Civic Chorus rehearsal for Requiem, a heartrendingly beautiful composition. If you've never had the opportunity to hear this piece, I highly recommend you do -- this will be the first opportunity I've had to perform it. We're doing the piece as written in Latin, and the pure emotion poured into the prayers and benediction moves me.
Our director noted that a experiencing work of art can leave you a changed person - can cause a transcendence, if you will. At the very least, it has certainly encouraged me to strengthen my relationship with God.
Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy, meditate on these things.
--Philippians 4:8
