Ancient Chinese Curses
You know that ancient Chinese saying, "May you live in interesting times."? Well, it isn't necessarily a blessing.
This weekend I was saddened to hear of the death of a close friend's father. M, if you read this, lots of huggles to you - let me know when you need someone to talk to.
This weekend also marks the beginning of the choral week from heck. Every night there is a 3-hour rehearsal, and the week culminates Thursday night with a performance of Mozart's Requiem. For the curious, this is part of Southwestern University's Choral Director Institute (a week long seminar for choir directors) and Chorus Austin is performing as a favor to our director, who is also hosting the Institute. Had I known a month ago that this would be horrible timing, I would not have committed myself - but so far we have a total of about 7 sopranos and Kenny would never forgive me if I backed out now. (*Did you say you wanted to move to AVAE? Ha! You'll never perform for this group again!* Oy, I can hear it now. Okay, maybe he isn't that vindictive, but he sure wouldn't be my best buddy for it.)
There have been bright spots to this weekend: my crochet classes seem to be going very well, I've gotten to the middle of the 7th ball of yarn for PF, and after all is said and done, we did have a fabulous rehearsal tonight.
Since this week will be so hectic, my posts to this journal may be a little sketchy - my apologies in advance.
