Camera disappointment
Oh, I'm so bummed. I took my new Olympus E-510 out for a full run today -- since Mom asked for a visit we went down to the Riverwalk today, for exercise and to allow me to test out my new camera. I'd already done a few test shots earlier this week when I unpacked the camera to make sure the various modes worked, and all seemed okay.
Unfortunately, after about fifty shots or so in several modes (only two or three using live view mode), the LCD has decided to start "ghosting". This problem has not gone away after the camera has been off for a few hours, and occurs on the menu as well as in playback. I have not yet downloaded the pics to my computer to see if it is only the LCD that has a problem or the entire internals of the camera -- certainly when you turn the camera off now it makes a click-click-click sound that I don't recall it making previously, and my E-300 doesn't do it. Since I don't have my card reader, cables or manuals here in SA (or for that matter, other lenses or my old camera to try), I shall have to wait until tomorrow to see if the problem is deeper than just a faulty LCD. Either way, I am very sad that my new camera is not perfect. My E-300 more than met my expectations when I got it and it is just a downer to have the E-510 not be just as good out of the box.
