Second FO of 2008
Huzzah, I finished something!
Technically it's my 3rd FO of the year, counting both pinafores for Bekky separately, but either way it is done - finito. I just finished off the Hot Cross Beret for my friend E, a project which took longer than I thought it would but came out rather well. I made a few changes to the pattern, modifying the crossed stitch with one that was easier (the pattern TrX stitch was remarkably overcomplicated) and reducing a couple rows because the hat was starting to look like a balloon rather than a tam.
Now I just need to weave in the ends and take some pictures for my project notebook. If I make another one of these, I think I'll use the idea and make a new pattern from scratch, so that I can work it top down with the alternate stitching. Hm, I'll have to think about that some more.
In the meantime, it means now I only have two unfinished objects to go before I can start on a sweater for myself. I need to finish my grandmother's shawl as soon as possible (overdue Christmas present) and try to get the wedding afghan done before March, so the mother of the bride can hand-deliver it to Germany. If that one's not finished (or there is no room in the luggage) I can still ship it, but I'd rather not pay the shipping charges if I can manage it.
Pictures coming soon...
